S4E1: American Gothic (The Curious Case of HH Holmes)

s4e1.png

In the late 1800’s, on the corner of South Wallace Avenue and West 63rd St in Chicago, Illinois there stood a modern day castle. It featured secret passageways and doors leading to nowhere and it's more than 100 rooms served as lodging, business spaces, and retail, but its basement however was reserved for the murder of up to 200 unfortunate souls.

The three story building’s owner didn’t do it for the thrill, or the process, of the killing, nor for some sick need to possess the body, or product, of his evil actions. Instead it’s proprietor did it for one of the oldest and most pervasive reasons in human history, money. The almighty dollar.

He was born Herman Webster Mudgett, but you might know him better at the torture doctor, the keeper of the murder castle, the devil of the windy city, or the true archetype of the evil rich guy… this is the story of Dr. HH Holmes. (Chicago, IL)

Host JD Horror is joined by author and filmmaker John Borowski to tell the tale of one of the first and most notorious American serial killers of all time.
